A trend of shared living in new apartments

Society las Olas is an interesting concept to make apartments more affordable through shared living. Of course this one in the article is a "luxury" apartment with high end amenities, a more reasonable rent could be charged with more functional amenities. This type of shared living can appeal to young singles, couples, and elderly people would desperately need affordable housing. When my son was in college he rented a bedroom with a private bath in a 4 bedroom apartment. The living room, porch and kitchen were communal spaces. This way a $2000/month apartment cost each student only $500 each, If someone moves out, a new roommate was found through the leasing office. Th remaining tenants did not get stuck with the vacant room rent. I think this could especially appeal to lower income seniors who may be especially interested in the social aspect.
